Carol Rocamora

Carol Rocamora is a teacher, playwright, translator and critic. She published three volumes of complete translated dramatic works of Anton Chekhov. Her play, «I take your hand in mine....», based on the correspondence of Chekhov and Olga Knipper was staged in many countries. She teaches at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and at Columbia University.

During her fellowship Carol Rocamora worked on number of projects – completion of a new biography, Chekhov: Portraits, a new play about a literary figure in St. Petersburg, development of a new approach to teaching Chekhov to actors, a Russian production of «I take your hand in mine…».

«The Cultural Fellowship is a superb opportunity for individual Americans to develop cultural projects in St. Petersburg. Through the many contacts made by the Likhachev Foundation, I was able to meet and converse in depth about my work with numerous leaders in the St. Petersburg Theatre community».
