Ljiljana Grubisic

Ljiljana Grubisic is the Director of Collections and Public Programs at the Wende Museum and Archive of the Cold War in Los Angeles.  The Museum collects, preserves and provides access to cultural and political artifacts, personal histories and documentary materials of Cold War-era Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union.  In collaboration with the Duke University Museum of Art, Ljiljana organized Tishkov's fist solo exhibition in the U.S. in 1993.During her fellowship Ljiljana met with a number of other museum professionals to explore collaborative projects which would draw upon the Wende Museum’s collection of Perestroika-era art.

«The fellowship provided an unparalleled opportunity to communicate the mission of the Wende Museum to a Russian audience.  For a life-long student and admirer of Russian culture, this was also a unique occasion to re-experience the vibrancy of St. Petersburg in all of its richness and openness to the world.  It was particularly valuable to exchange ideas with museum professionals and city officials.  The diverse professional backgrounds of other fellowship participants brought an added dimension to the entire experience.  It was a distinct privilege to be part of the re-emergence of philanthropic and grant-making activities in Russia.  The Likhachev Foundation should be commended for its superb efforts at cultural diplomacy through its exchange program.»
