"St. Petersburg is one of the world's great art cities, but it can be hard for a foreign visitor to know which courtyard to enter. The Likhachev Foundation provided me with an astonishing level of access to some of St. Petersburg's greatest creative minds, allowing me to work in a tremendously focused, productive fashion during my visit.

Like any creative endeavor, it helps to go in with a sense of what you want. If you can be specific about your goal, the Foundation has an amazing knack for finding the very best people for you to meet. But just as valuable are the opportunities the Foundation provides to meet those artists you never considered. All the Fellows in our group quickly became friends, and were invited to each other's meetings, conferences, and informal get-togethers. So I not only met the great Russian artists I had hoped to see, I also encountered fascinating people that I didn't know to look for, and made some great contacts for future work in the U.S. as well.

Likhachev's capable organizers, translators, and drivers made our visit to St. Petersburg a whirlwind of discovery. For any foreigner interested in exploring the cultural treasures of St. Petersburg, they are an invaluable resource".
