Aleksandar Kadijević

Architectural historian, Chief of Dept. for Art History, Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade University. Author of dozens of publications in Russia, USA, and Serbia dedicated to the work of Russian émigré architects in Yugoslavia. The fellowship is related to preparation of The Dictionary of Russian architects in Yugoslavia (1918-1950). It will be the first historiographic dictionary on that subject, with almost 350 illustrated biographies of architects and civil engineers, who constructed a great number of important buildings across Yugoslavia.

“My fellowship was very successful and stimulating on behalf of my historiographical  project 'Russian architect and civil engineers in exile 1918-1950'.With a help of curators and experts from St Petersburg, I succeeded to visit a lot of famous buildings and archive funds which have materials about long urban history of the city. Late imperial and Art Nouveau periods were in my main focus. I was honored to see original documents at the Academy of Fine Arts, St Petersburg faculty of civil engineers and on various museum collections. All insights will be very useful for my further work, as well as the dialogues with local experts.

The organization of fellowship was excellent and our daily programs were very structured. The hosts from Likhachev foundation supported all my interests and needs, and organized my cooperation with many prominent curators and historians. I am fully satisfied with my program, and  my discoveries will be reflected in my next articles and studies”.
